COVID-19 ECONOMIC RECOVERY
We have experienced a precipitous drop in tax revenue. A growing tax base is required for our community to thrive. We can accomplish this by keeping families in their homes and increasing new homeownership. We also must leverage Federal and State funds with local philanthropy to maintain our small businesses. Additionally, we need comprehensive solutions for workers who have lost jobs due to COVID-19.
INCREASE ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE HOUSING
We will work together to improve access to affordable single-family housing and multiple family rentals. A big part of this is supporting a reauthorization and increase in the homelessness millage to help support LITHC development. Additionally, we need to support other housing models like low equity co-ops, collective housing models, and mixed-use development.
DEVELOP LONG-TERM SOLUTION TO FLOODING
In addition to the impacts of climate change and a 30% increase in annual rainfall, we have a lot of water to manage. If mismanaged, our residents stand to lose their homes. We have an obligation to manage this in an informed and transparent way.
